What is happening?
iOS allows an app to run in kiosk mode for only a specific amount of time before it automatically takes the device out of kiosk mode. This affects the length of time TestNav remains in kiosk mode after a student signs in to a test. The maximum time TestNav remains in kiosk mode after a student signs in depends on the iOS version running on the device.
What does this mean?
The table below shows maximum time allotted for kiosk mode for each iOS version.
iOS version | Max time in kiosk mode |
---|
10.2 | 8 hours |
---|
9.3.x | 3 hours |
---|
What do I need to do (and how do I do it)?
- Determine which iOS version(s) you use.
- Before the testing session, determine whether any students will exceed the allotted time testing in kiosk mode.
- If a student will exceed the time limit for kiosk mode testing, plan a break for the student to sign out before the time limit expires. The proctor must then resume the student using the assessment management system and have the student sign in again.
- If the time limit expires, kiosk mode stops and the student is exited from the test. The proctor must resume the student using the assessment management system, restart the iPad, and have the student sign in again.
