Depending on your site's setup, users may access ADAM via an integration with Launchpad, or directly to ADAM if their accounts were created in ADAM (rather than flowing through your organization's data feed).
While a user may be assigned to multiple user roles in LaunchPad, each user may only be assigned one role in ADAM. If a user has two roles assigned to them in LaunchPad, there is no way to have LaunchPad create two separate user accounts in ADAM to reflect both of their roles.
If a user needs two different roles in ADAM, consider the following options:
- Create a second user in LaunchPad having a unique login that gets sent to ADAM having the other role.
- Manually create a new account for the user in ADAM, allowing them to direct log in from ADAM for one of their accounts. Be aware that this manual account will not sync with LaunchPad and would need to be manually changed if the user leaves the institution.
- Create a hybrid user role in ADAM that covers the needs of both of their roles, then manually change the role type in ADAM after the record is merged from LaunchPad into ADAM. Once you manually adjust a role on a user in ADAM, it becomes locked and LaunchPad will not override that role. However, if the user account is deactivated in LaunchPad they will lose access to ADAM as well.
