Options for Assigning Accommodations

Depending on your user role, the following options are available:

Where to View Accommodations

View Accommodations for a Specific Student

Depending on your user access, you can view students and their accommodation assignments from these locations:

View Accommodated Form Count

Users who have access to Administration Cards (can easily see if accommodated forms have been assigned by the presence of the pink 'A' icon on the Administration Card. Hovering over the icon displays a count of accommodated forms and clicking on the icon navigates the user to the Students view. The Students view shows a summary bar with a total for accommodated and regular forms. Hovering over sections of the bar details the type of accommodated form assigned. Clicking on a section of the bar filters the student list for that accommodated form. A ‘View by Form Type’ filter is also available to filter the student list.

There are two ways to reach the Student view:

  • Test Management > Administrations > click pink Accommodated icon
  • Test Management > Administrations > Students > View

List of Accommodations

Which accommodations are available to be assigned to a student are based on:

  • Accommodations enabled as part of implementation configurations.
  • If alternate accommodated forms are available for the test (e.g., a Spanish version).
  • Which accommodation profile the test is tagged to (for example, some subjects may make TTS available too all students in which case there is no need to assign an accommodation versus others in which only specific students can be assigned).
  • User permissions – some accommodations may be set up to only be available to some user roles.

For tests with multiple forms, some accommodations are associated with specific online forms. Common examples include Spanish, text-to-speech*, braille, large print, paper and closed captioning. Accommodation assignments also impact what printed support material is needed, such as scripts for human reader. Because each student can only receive one online test form, there is a hierarchy to determine which for a student will get if multiple form-based accommodations are granted. Do not assign competing accommodations,  such as human reader and text-to speech.

For students to receive the correct online or paper test, they must be tagged with the appropriate accommodations for the accommodations profile linked to the test and the test must have the corresponding form available. There is a default hierarchy of accommodations, but can be overridden at the test level. Contact your Pearson Delivery Team for details on tests created for TestNav use.
