Interaction Types
`Select the links below for information on each item type's unique features. Some interaction types, such a geometry, facilitate formatting the prompt or can be used as a 'scratchpad' for students and do not have to be used for collecting a response. (* These types require manual scoring.) (# These types support partial scoring.)

Charts & Graphs | |
Bar Chart Interaction | Authors can add a prompt, set the grid coordinates, add labels, bars and bar groups as well as make certain bars static. Students can add responses by clicking on a bar and moving it. |
Geometry Interaction* | Draw points, lines, circles, and other shapes over a coordinate plane. |
Graphing Interaction | Choose the graph type from the dropdown, add responses by clicking in the graph, moving points around and removing responses. |
Histogram Interaction | A visual interpretation of numerical data showing the number of data points falling within a specified range of values. |
Number Line Interaction | Add up to two plots on a line. |
Content | |
Content Block | Content Blocks are typically use in a split screen item to display an image or text that will not be used for additional items. |
Shared Stimulus | Use the Shared Stimulus page to create or edit shared content used for multiple test items. A share stimulus is typically a passage, but could be a diagram, table or other content. As a best practice, create stimuli before adding the items that will be paired with them. |
Tabbed Passage | Provide paired stimuli accessible with tabs. As a best practice for items with paired passages, set up the pieces in this order: stimuli, tabbed passage, items. |

Associate Interaction # | Drag text choices into gaps connected by a line to show an association between them. |
Basic Match Interaction# | Drag image and/or text choices into labeled boxes called gaps. |
Gap Match Interaction # | Drag words into one or more gaps (or cloze banks) within text or a table. |
Graphic Gap Match Interaction # | Drag images to a gap (a location on a background image). |
Order Interaction | Drag text or image choices into a different horizontal or vertical order. |

Choice Interaction # | Choose one or more answers from pre-set responses. |
Hot Spot Interaction # | Select one or more areas called 'hot spots' on an image to give their answer. |
Hot Text Interaction # | Select one or more highlighted portions of text to give their answer(s). |
Inline Choice Interaction # | Select a single text option from a drop-down menu within a table or inline text to 'fill in the blank.' |
Tabular Match Interaction # | Select radio buttons or check checkboxes in cells to indicate a match between the column and row labels. |
Text Entry | |
Text/Math Entry Interaction | Enter into stand-alone blank fields or blank fields located within text. This item type supports Math Entry options. |
